THE NEIGHBORHOOD
The ideal setting for a short stay or a long weekend.
The beautiful buildings are a great example of the new Bordeaux. The land once belonged to an old Carthusian monastery (Chartreux in French, which led to its current name, Les Chartrons), drained by the Dutch in the 17th century. It was once home to English, Scottish, Irish, Scandinavian, and German merchants who built beautiful houses and wineries. Cours Xavier Arnozan (formerly Pavé des Chartrons) is one of the city's most aristocratic and elegant streets. Living on the "Pavé" was still a sign of social status in the last century.
We recommend Quai des Marques which is a great location with parking and a tram stop nearby where you can shop and brunch in an outdoor cafe overlooking the Jacques Chaban-Delmas Bridge
THE CITY
Bordeaux has always been a dynamic and cosmopolitan city, and it continues to reveal exciting new facets of its character. Its bold modernism has made it a must-see destination for anyone interested in French culture, lifestyle... and wine! At the heart of a legendary wine region, this vibrant and sophisticated city is one of France's most elegant and was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007.
