In Fleurac, in the Périgord Noir, this stone house is one where nothing has been left to chance: every window has been positioned to frame a particular view of the countryside. La Fenêtre Ouverte (‘The Open Window’) takes its name from Leon Battista Alberti, who in the Renaissance described a painting as an ‘open window’ onto the world: here, every window becomes a painting. Exposed timbers and old beams, stone walls, flagstone floors, a large fireplace, bookshelves and works of art create an interior that is both refined and welcoming.
On the ground floor, the open-plan kitchen leads into a dining area and a sitting area by the fireplace. A second sitting and dining room, lined with bookshelves, opens onto the outside through large French windows. There is also a separate toilet.
Upstairs is divided into two parts.
On the kitchen side: a double bedroom, a bathroom on a mezzanine (bath and washbasin) and a separate toilet.
On the sitting-room side: two double bedrooms, a shower room and a separate toilet.
All three bedrooms, beneath beautiful exposed roof timbers, are air-conditioned.
Outside, there is a large garden, a cobbled courtyard and terraces at the back and on the courtyard side. The long saltwater pool, with an electric cover, is surrounded by a furnished pool area (outdoor sofas, sun loungers and parasols) and a stone pool house with a well-equipped summer kitchen, overlooking the countryside.
Fleurac is a hilltop village. Just 450 metres from the house stands the Château de Fleurac, an imposing 15th-century residence with Renaissance architecture; it is a private property, visible from the road. Les Eyzies and the great prehistoric sites of the Vézère Valley are 10 km away, Lascaux IV – International Centre for Cave Art (Montignac) 20 km, and Sarlat 32 km.
Linen is included in the rental: 3 towels per person (2 bath towels and 1 pool towel), as well as bed linen (sheets, pillowcases and duvet cover).
A security deposit of €1,000, in the form of a bank pre-authorisation, will be requested one week before your arrival.
