Famous for its port facilities and shipyards, discover the unique maritime heritage of Saint-Nazaire in Loire-Atlantique! Located in the city's port, the former submarine base invites you to immerse yourself in this very special world. In the Escal'Atlantic International Cruise Liner Center, visit the cabins, explore the engine room, the wheelhouse, and more. Climb aboard the Espadon submarine and dive into the world of the abyss, or be amazed by the Shipyards of , the site of the construction of cruise ships. Packed with information, the ecomuseum traces the history of the city and allows you to learn a little more about its evolution over time. Above all, take a trip up to the roof terrace of the submarine base for a panoramic view of the entire port. And at sunset, what a light show!
Saint-Nazaire boasts a magnificent coastline: beaches, sheltered coves, headlands, cliffs, and unspoiled landscapes not far from the city center. A quick aside: Saint-Marc Beach was made famous by Jacques Tati, who filmed Monsieur Hulot's Holiday there. Those familiar with the film will easily recognize it. Take your time and enjoy a pleasant stroll along the coastal path or along the seafront to the Vieux Môle lighthouse.
Stroll through the town and discover quiet little streets here, old villas there, the covered market, the small port of Méan, the wheelbarrow paths which are these tiny passages so characteristic dating from the last century, located in the Méan-Penhoët district… As you visit, admire the works of street art which adorn certain buildings in the town.
