The 2nd arrondissement of Paris is historically one of Europe's financial centers, home to the former Palais de la Bourse, now known as the Palais Brongniart. Other important activities in the area are journalism and fashion. The 2nd arrondissement is also home to the famous Rue Sainte-Anne, known to Parisians as a den of Japanese restaurants and shops. Typical Parisian shopping arcades, such as the Passage Choiseul and the Passage des Panoramas, add to the district's charm. While the aforementioned activities are all daytime pursuits, the eastern end of the arrondissement, notably the charming Rue Montorgueil, has an entirely different reputation, more vibrant and youthful thanks to its many cafes, restaurants, and bars.
