Lormont owes its name to its hillsides once wooded with laurels "Mons Laureus: Mount of Laurels".
Located on the right bank of the Garonne, 6 kilometers downstream from Bordeaux, the town boasts a rich and ancient past, traces of which are still visible today. Privileged by its geographical location, Lormont was a defensive site, a port, and later a residential and holiday resort.
Today, Lormont is a town of around 22,000 inhabitants, accessible by tram and open to the river, which draws the strength of its modernity from its traditions.
