The neighborhood, bordering the banks of the Garonne, stretches from the Jardin Public in the south to the Cité du Vin in the north. The old facades have been restored, and the streets are lively. The warehouses now house bars, restaurants, homes, as well as businesses and schools. Antique shops, decoration boutiques, and art galleries have flourished in the neighborhood. The neighborhood is often associated with that of a small village; you will have the opportunity to pass by the Saint Louis Church, a listed Historic Monument. You can treat yourself to a shopping session at the Outlet Center: the Quai des Marques. Various brand-name factory outlets are present and offer advantageous prices. The Halle des Chartrons hosts numerous cultural events such as concerts and exhibitions, as well as a market. Art and culture lovers can also visit the Musée d'Art.
-- Bordeaux Maritime
The Bordeaux Maritime district, or Bacalan, is a former trading port. Today, it is a lively part of Bordeaux that combines both urban planning and tradition. Typical houses stand alongside recent buildings and new residential areas. Green spaces play an important role in this district, particularly with the 8-hectare forest. The Bordeaux-Lac district is nearby, offering the opportunity to swim there on summer afternoons or to sail, catamaran, or paddleboard. Music lovers can take advantage of the Hangar des Quais to discover the FRAC Aquitaine, the Vivres de l'Art, or the I-Boat, Bordeaux's legendary concert venue. During the day, it's a great opportunity to have a coffee or go shopping. The district is also located not far from the famous Cité du Vin, which has made Bordeaux famous in recent years.
