An authentic fishing port on the Provençal coast, Sanary benefits from a privileged geographical location: 12 km from Toulon, 55 km from Marseille, 35 km from Hyères airport, 75 km from Marseille airport (Marignane), Sanary/Bandol motorway exit.
San Nari is the Provençal name for Saint Nazaire, a Roman martyr of the 1st century AD, to whom a place of worship was dedicated in the Middle Ages in the territory of present-day Sanary. A hamlet on the edge of the Mediterranean, sheltered by the lord's tower erected around 1300, Saint-Nazaire began to flourish in the 16th century.
The port of Sanary is recognized as one of the most typical and authentic on the French Mediterranean coast. A very old natural port, located in the heart of the town, it showcases around a hundred heritage boats, the oldest dating from 1895, including the famous Provençal “pointus”.
You will also love its large night market every evening in July and August.
