Welcome to "Maison-Oyan" at the foot of the Pyrenees and 10 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean. The owners Steffen and Susana, a German-Spanish couple, have tastefully renovated a typical farmhouse of the region. The house dates back to the 18th century. The stable, barn and house have been converted into 4 comfortable holiday flats. The flats are called Etable, Greniere, Larrun and Ganbara. Each flat has its own separate entrance and offers plenty of space to enjoy the peace and quiet. Guests can really feel at home here.
The flat has a lovely terrace with views of the Pyrenees and the surrounding area. The flat also has a small garden area with a hammock. Access to the flat is via a staircase and the balcony to the front door.
The flat has an orientation in 3 directions, with idyllic views of the mountains, and is spoilt by the southern orientation with light and sun. Two windows and two glazed exits to the terrace give the spacious living room with integrated kitchen plenty of light. The modern kitchen, equipped with all amenities, is integrated into the living room. The two cosy bedrooms are located at the rear of the flat and the old roof beams are visible in the living room like mansards. An enormous volume has been created that conveys an unrivalled living pleasure. At the same time, care has been taken to furnish the flat with all modern conveniences, an aesthetic layout of the rooms and contemporary decoration. All rooms are equipped with heating. The floor of the flat is made of very high quality laminate, the bathroom is tiled with clay tiles.
The house is located in a quiet rural setting with a beautiful view of pastures and the foothills of the Pyrenees, at the foot of the mountain "La Rhune" (900m), between the idyllic villages of Urrugne and Ascain (5 min.). Very close to the Atlantic coast of St Jean de Luz (10 min), Hendaye (15 min), Hondarribia (Spain) (20 min), Biarritz (20 min), San Sebastián (Spain) (30 min).
It is ideal for getting to know the Basque culture in France as well as in Spain. An exceptionally rich offer of beautiful villages, towns, -class gastronomy, peculiar customs and traditions, interesting architecture and unspoilt landscapes are waiting to be discovered.
The owners live on the property, are always available to answer questions and help make the trip a memorable experience.
"Maison-Oyan" is the place to spend a wonderful holiday, for lovers of the mountains with hikes from the house as well as lovers of the beach and the sea. The coast is only 10 minutes away. Road cycling, mountain biking, surfing/wave riding, sailing, golf, horse riding etc. - the nearby Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding mountains with their nature and infrastructure offer almost all possibilities on water, land and in the air.
Our guests receive a home-made travel guide with lots of ideas for exploring the surrounding area. The owners are also happy to help with restaurant bookings, surf lessons, riding lessons, bike hire, excursions to San Sebastián etc. and also with a visit to the doctor should this be necessary.
The Basque name of the house is "Oyan-zain-baita", which means "the forester's house" (a nice coincidence, as Steffen comes from a family of foresters in the Black Forest).
