Las Canteras Beach is a long stretch of sand that occupies approximately 3,800 meters of coastline and extends throughout the bay.
Las Canteras is one of the best urban beaches in the country and the world, as it's a great place to be almost year-round. It's the place in the capital where you can relax, where time stands still, and where you can play sports every day of the week, in a swimsuit, bikini, goggles and snorkel, paddle (beach rackets), or surfboard.
It's also a large marine life reserve. Its seabed is home to a thousand species of fish. On land, it's a refuge for walkers, fishermen, and surfers. And it has a special feature. This feature is what the locals call "La Barra," a long rock formation that extends not far from the sand and protects a large part of the beach from the tides, transforming it into a natural saltwater pool when the tide is low. A curious row of stones makes the bay the best place for swimming on this side of the world, as the salty sea makes it easy to float, and with swimming goggles, it feels like being inside a large aquarium.
And if you're up for a stroll, we recommend the long promenade that winds along the sand, passing cafes and ice cream parlors.
