Vannes, a city of art and history, is located at the gateway to the Gulf of Morbihan, in southern Brittany, on the Marle estuary. You will begin by admiring the medieval ramparts, among the best preserved in Brittany, which give rise to a charming walk along the Garenne, a path that runs alongside them, punctuated by gardens and pretty wash houses. After exploring the port, with its tree-lined quays including the Quai de la Rabine, take the 17th-century Porte Saint-Vincent, built to connect the port and the historic district: you enter the old town via a street lined with old buildings, private mansions, and half-timbered houses. At the foot of the building is a sheepfold for the enjoyment of young and old.
