Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire, a commune in the Pays de la Loire region of the Loire-Atlantique department, is the fifth-largest city in the department. It sits on the banks of the Loire River, just four kilometers from Nantes. The ancient commune was once a Celtic settlement that was later dominated by the Gallo-Romans. A former stronghold of the Duchy of Brittany, the town of Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire became a possession of the Kingdom of France in the early 16th century. Although it is now urbanized, the commune has long been an important market gardening site, particularly for wheat and vines. Dynamic and full of life, the commune has received numerous awards, regularly becoming the most sporty town in the Pays de la Loire region, or obtaining the Ville Internet 2, Ville Fun et Sportive, and Ville Conviviale labels.
