Capital of Narbonne Gaul, residence of the Visigoth kings and archiepiscopal city, the City of Art and History of Narbonne, over 2,500 years old, boasts a rich heritage. In the heart of the historic center, two buildings, listed as Historic Monuments, are must-sees: the Saint-Just-et-Saint-Pasteur Cathedral and the Archbishops' Palace. Afterward, there's nothing better than a coffee break on one of the terraces of the lively Town Hall Square, before continuing your journey towards the Robine Canal and its charming Promenade des Barques, where you'll have the opportunity to enjoy an electric boat ride. As for museums, Narbonne is also well-endowed, with its archaeological museum housing a remarkable exhibition of Roman paintings, its Museum of Art and History rich in collections of fine arts and decorative arts, its lapidary museum housed in the former church of Notre-Dame de Lamourguier, and the birthplace of Charles Trenet, today entirely dedicated to the famous singing fool. There is Joy, every year at the end of August, with the Trenet festival, which honors French song, through concerts, shows, bodegas and street arts!
