Marseille is a wonderful, rich, and vibrant city: sea views, ports and beaches, museums. A must-see: Notre Dame de la Garde towers over the Phocaean city; you can see the basilica from Protis Square right outside the apartment.
The Frioul archipelago can be visited, with sea shuttles departing from the Vieux Port. You have to cross the Vieux Port with the famous Ferry Boat (pronounced "box"). The calanques are worth seeing, both by sea and on hikes. A little further, by car or train, are the charming ports of Cassis and La Ciotat, and on the other side, the Côte Bleue.
The 2nd arrondissement covers the oldest part of Marseille, north of the Old Port, including the Panier district. This area is home to the Grands Carmes Town Hall, making it a historic district. The many restaurants and grocery stores, pedestrian streets, and colorful facades give this area a picturesque feel, attracting tourists. This district represents Marseille's past and present, combining history with a trendy atmosphere thanks to the Docks du Sud, performance halls, exhibitions, and meeting places.
Parking is available at the foot of the building, and there are sometimes even some free spaces available.
